Basketball Recap: Bethesda Christian Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Bethesda Christian was riding high fresh off their 88-36 takedown of Purdue Broad Ripple last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bethesda Christian Patriots took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Danville Warriors on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Patriots of the 64-49 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Bethesda Christian had strong showings from Steven Tierney, who posted 27 points and eight boards, and Branden Roberts, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Tierney a new career-high in blocks (two).

Danville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Tricker, who had 19 points along with eight boards and six assists. Tricker has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Benjamin Coleman was another key player, going 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and five boards.

Bethesda Christian's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Danville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Bethesda Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 58-49 defeat against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin on the 7th. As for Danville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 87-33 victory against Herron on the 7th.
