After a string of four wins, the KIPP Austin Collegiate Cardinals's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 31-30 to Valor North Austin. If KIPP Austin Collegiate was looking for revenge after losing 42-35 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
KIPP Austin Collegiate's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Perez, who scored six points along with four steals. Perez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Gisselle Yanez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with four steals.
KIPP Austin Collegiate's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-9. As for Valor North Austin, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-4.
KIPP Austin Collegiate has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th. IDEA Rundberg comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Valor North Austin, they will head out on the road to face off against the Archers at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
