The Fremont Packers will head out on the road to take on the Orchard View Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fremont has five straight victories, Orchard View has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fremont is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Mason County Central on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Packers, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kam Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Fremont got a massive performance out of Maddie Baden, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those six RBI gave Baden a new career-high. Gracie Clark was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Orchard View and Ludington meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Cardinals came up short against the Orioles, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly ten runs.
Eliana Jennings was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fremont's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Orchard View, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.
Orchard View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fremont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .423. It's a different story for Orchard View, though, as they've only averaged .192. Will they be able to contain Fremont's hitters?
Everything went Fremont's way against Orchard View in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Fremont made off with a 19-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Packers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
