Fairview is a perfect 10-0 against Girard since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will host the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fairview 2.9, Girard 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fairview's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Conneaut Area by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Vinny Campoli made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Campoli was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Fairview let Robert Benford and Brayden Hennessy run wild. Benford went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Hennessy went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Hennessy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Rzodkiewicz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Fairview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conneaut Area only posted a batting average of .105.
Meanwhile, Girard had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Wildcats. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly four runs.
Carson Stevens looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Girard got a big performance out of Mason Kalicky, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Kalicky has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Sam Schepers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Girard's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Fairview, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fairview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Girard struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fairview was able to grind out a solid win over Girard when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
