Gateway is a perfect 3-0 against Dunbar since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Gateway will take on Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gateway has three straight victories, Dunbar has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Gateway's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Cape Coral. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Gateway got a great performance from Hunter Squire as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Squire has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Hardman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Anthony Herrera also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Gateway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Coral only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Dunbar's offense. They lost 11-0 to East Lee County two weeks ago.
Gateway's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Dunbar, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Dunbar's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gateway has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .445. It's a different story for Dunbar, though, as they've only averaged .328. Will they be able to contain Gateway's hitters?
Gateway took their win against Dunbar in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 27-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gateway since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
