The Broken Bow Indians had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 56-16 victory over Arcadia/Loup City on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-7.
Among those leading the charge was MaKinley Tobey, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle McCaslin, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Arcadia/Loup City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eva Jaixen, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Arcadia/Loup City struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Broken Bow racked up 16 assists.
Broken Bow's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Arcadia/Loup City, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-1.
Broken Bow will be playing at home against Holdrege at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holdrege will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Broken Bow is ranked 32nd). As for Arcadia/Loup City, they will head out on the road to face off against Pleasanton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
