The Statesboro Blue Devils had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They secured a 45-40 W over Jenkins. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Statesboro has scored all year.
Statesboro was led to victory by Kamron (kam) Mikell and Raylin Grant. Mikell scored nine points along with three steals, while Grant scored 14 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Muhammad Shareef, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Jenkins' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah James, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. James is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Anthony Aj bynum was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Statesboro is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Jenkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
Statesboro will head out on the road to take on Bradwell Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bradwell Institute will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive. As for Jenkins, they will take on Laney at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
