The Cranston East Thunderbolts were the 49-37 winner over the Tiverton Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Cranston East took a 48-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tiverton. Cranston East has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cranston East lost on Monday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mya Jiminez, who scored 14 points. Jayna Gunderway was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Tiverton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jah'niece Branch, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Katie Richardson, who scored seven points.
Cranston East's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Tiverton, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.
Cranston East will head out on the road to square off against Moses Brown at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Moses Brown's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Cranston East has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Tiverton will take on Mt. Pleasant at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Pleasant comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
