Ravenswood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Hurricane Redskins at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Ravenswood came up short against the Vikings and fell 52-41. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ravenswood in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Ravenswood got a solid performance out of Hadleigh McGoskey, who scored 26 points. That was a full 63.4% of Ravenswood's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Emily Wratchford was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-49, which was the final score in Hurricane's tilt against the Patriots on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Hurricane can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Patriots are ranked first).
Despite the defeat, Hurricane had strong showings from Alexandra Anderson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds, and Rylyn Bielinski, who scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bielinski has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Quijano, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Hurricane struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Ravenswood's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Hurricane, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Monday's match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: McGoskey and Anderson. McGoskey has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 23.5 points and 1.1 rebounds. For her part, Anderson has averaged 15.8 points, 2.2 steals, and 5.2 rebounds.
