Last Friday, North Fort Myers' game was all tied up 26-26 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They pulled ahead with a 52-51 photo finish over Oasis. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 8 on the offensive boards, as North Fort Myers did.
North Fort Myers' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Newson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Newson has scored at least 25% of North Fort Myers' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Makar, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mariner scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Island Coast, posting a 95-56 victory at home. Given Mariner's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Island Coast is ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Fort Myers came up short against Mariner in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 61-54. Thankfully for North Fort Myers, Hubert Ferro (who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
