Washington hasn't had much luck against Moreau Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Washington Huskies will take on the Moreau Catholic Mariners at 6:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Washington came up short against American and fell 3-1. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
While Washington had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23.
The losing side was boosted by Alex Chicchon, who had 17 digs.
Meanwhile, Moreau Catholic had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mariners have posted since March 9, 2024.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Moreau Catholic got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 23-25, 16-14.
Moreau Catholic pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Washington might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Moreau Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Washington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
