The Montverde Academy Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Eustis Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Montverde Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Trinity Catholic. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the game before.
Miranda Murch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Montverde Academy let Luna Taboas and Addison Poe run wild. Taboas scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Poe went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Taboas has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Leila Susaia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Montverde Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Catholic only posted a batting average of .250.
Eustis not only won last Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th. Everything went their way against Tavares as they made off with a 12-2 win.
Carson Roden looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Emmy Luke and Brooklyn Powhida did most of the damage at the plate: Luke scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Powhida scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Powhida has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Kemp, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Montverde Academy pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Eustis, their record now sits at 11-3.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Montverde Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .414. However, it's not like Eustis struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Montverde Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Eustis in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
