The Hagerman Pirates suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Camas County, falling 76-49. While losing is never fun, Hagerman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Camas County is ranked 17th).
Despite the loss, Hagerman still got an impressive performance from Ky Kendall, who scored 17 points along with three steals and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Kendall posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Johnson, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Hagerman struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Camas County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emmett Palan, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Palan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Troy Smith was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Hagerman has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Camas County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hagerman will challenge Richfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Richfield is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Camas County, they will head out on the road to challenge Dietrich at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
