There's no place like home for the Milpitas Trojans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over Los Gatos on Tuesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Milpitas' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Los Gatos is ranked 124th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Milpitas to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Wrencher, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Sisay, who scored 15 points.
Los Gatos lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Scotty Brennan, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Brennan has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Martin, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Milpitas' win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Los Gatos, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.
Milpitas will head out on the road to challenge Wilcox at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Los Gatos, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gunn at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
