AAA Region 4 recap October 22, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Chapel Hill, who defeated 200th ranked Business Engineering Science Tech, 38-28.
The Panthers moved up to 284 from 323 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA Region 4. Chapel Hill climbed the ranks as a result of defeating the Eagles 38-28.
Kaleel Abdulasaan made the biggest impact on defense this week as Central topped Rockmart. He nabbed 1 interception and recorded 1 fumble.
Keenan Moore threw for 450 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 26-45 with 1 interception.
Orenzo Smith had an awesome week catching the football as Jackson topped Douglass. He caught 8 passes for 239 yards.
Damarius Owensby was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 70 yards on 5 carries as the Lions defeated the Astros. Teammate Curtis Davenport added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Jackson's Moore and Smith have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Moore has thrown for 2,067 yards this season, while Smith has 35 catches for 895 yards. Deshawn Waller from Business Engineering Science Tech leads the league in rushing with 875 yards.
An important game coming up in AAA Region 4 this week will be when Joshua Moore's team takes on Callaway. At the moment, the Eagles are in fourth, while the Cavaliers are in first.
Callaway added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Haralson County, 55-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
