Baseball Recap: East Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Statesville

East Lincoln won the last time they faced Statesville and things went their way on Monday too. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Greyhounds. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Aden Tompkins, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jackson Beam was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for East Lincoln and bumps their season record up to 16-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Statesville, their loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-15.

East Lincoln didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against St. Stephens on the 29th. Hopefully Statesville paid attention to the Mustangs' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
