The Lely Trojans had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-50 victory over Gulf Coast on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Lely, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Lely's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lovence Valcin, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Anthony Deibis-Silverstein, who scored 8 points.
Lely's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Gulf Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lely will take on Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gulf Coast, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. Palmetto Ridge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Gulf Coast in Florida (Palmetto Ridge is ranked 12th, while Gulf Coast is ranked 320th).
