Campolindo and Mt. Diablo are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Campolindo is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Campolindo lost 18-4 to Concord on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 14 runs.
Paige Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Bea Nelson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Diablo). Everything went their way against Ygnacio Valley on Friday as they made off with a 27-11 win. With that victory, the Red Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Chrisette(CJ) Jackson was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Valeria Zamora- Martinez, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
Mt. Diablo's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-15. As for Campolindo, their loss dropped their record down to 7-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Campolindo has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mt. Diablo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Campolindo got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Mt. Diablo by a conclusive 22-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
