4A Southeastern recap Oct. 31, 2012
Scotland extended the longest winning streak in 4A Southeastern this week by beating Richmond, 21-14. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Hoke County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,421 from 1,854. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 35-7 victory over Pinecrest last week.
Scotland's Jaylend Ratliffe and Tra'Shawn Gregory have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ratliffe has thrown for 1186 yards this season, while Gregory, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 30 catches for 507 yards. Daniel Robinson from Lumberton leads the league in rushing with 1071 yards.
Detrez Newsome of the the Bucks is only 82 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 77 carries Newsome has accumulated 918 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Hoke County takes on Pinecrest. As it stands, Julian Brown's team is in third, while Chris Metzger's team is in fifth.
