Basketball Recap: Pierce Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 24-24 at halftime, Pierce was not quite Paradise's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They took a 47-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Paradise Bobcats. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Pierce still got an impressive performance from Gavin Guynn, who posted 21 points and seven boards. That's the most points Guynn has posted since back in December of 2024.

Pierce has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Paradise, they pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pierce will head out to square off against Colusa at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Pierce is facing Colusa at the right time seeing as Colusa is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Paradise, they will head out on the road to take on Durham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
