Basketball Game Preview: Clever Blue Jays vs. Kickapoo Chiefs

The Clever Blue Jays and the Kickapoo Chiefs will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Clever is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 64-31 win over Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Blue Jays have posted since February 8th.

Clever can attribute much of their success to Bella Argo, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds, and Mackenzie Camp, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 18 points along with seven assists and five steals. The game was Camp's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Wheeler, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Clever smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Kickapoo came up short against Park Hill South last Saturday and fell 69-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (55), the Chiefs still had to take the loss.

Kickapoo's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Clever, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5.

Clever was taken down by Kickapoo 81-40 in their previous meeting back in December of 2019. Can Clever avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
