Cory-Rawson and Ridgemont are an even 3-3 against one another since September of 2019, but not for long. The Fighting Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Golden Gophers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cory-Rawson is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Cory-Rawson and Upper Scioto Valley, and Upper Scioto Valley kept the tradition alive. The Fighting Hornets fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2 on Monday.
Cory-Rawson actually scored more points across those five sets (94-91), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 16-25, 10-25, 25-12, 15-11.

Despite the defeat, Cory-Rawson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Rory Walters had 12 digs. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Walters.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ridgemont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Perry on Tuesday. The Golden Gophers haven't had any issues with the Commodores recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Ridgemont took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-11, 25-14.
Cory-Rawson's loss dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Ridgemont, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
Cory-Rawson took their victory against Ridgemont in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Fighting Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
