The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Marco Island Academy in their matchups with Donahue Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.
Marco Island Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Grayson Jones and Lincoln LaButte. Jones scored 19 points along with six rebounds, while LaButte scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals. The match was Jones' fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Erling Berg continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Donahue Catholic, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Berg is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Corban Copeland, who scored 12 points.
Marco Island Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-5. As for Donahue Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Marco Island Academy will head out on the road to face off against Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Donahue Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Naples Classical at 5:30 p.m. on December 14th. Naples Classical will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 758th, while Donahue Catholic is ranked 204th).
