West Union  took care of business in their home opener  (barely) on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  5-4  victory over the Kossuth Aggies. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the   8-6 win the Aggies walked away with the last time they faced one another  back in April of 2024.
 Grant Martin made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only a  hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Furthermore,  he didn't allow a single  earned run, the first time  he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with one  RBI.
 Martin wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Jaxon Herod, who  went 2-for-4 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
Kossuth's loss  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  dating back to last season and  brought them to 0-2.
 Coming up, West Union will take on Pine Grove at 4:00  p.m.  on Saturday. Kossuth will get a bit of extra time to process the  defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Adamsville at 7:00  p.m.  on March 14th.
