Baseball Recap: Elkhorn South Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Elkhorn South took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Papillion-LaVista South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Storm beat the Titans on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. The game was the first time the Storm have beaten the Titans on their field since May 12, 2023.

Brody Jindra made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Elkhorn South is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they moved to 19-4 with that loss, which also ended their 13-game winning streak.

Elkhorn South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 defeat against Millard West on the 26th. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they are taking a road trip to take on Millard South at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
