The biggest upset of the week belonged to Evangel Christian Academy, who took down 314th ranked Crenshaw Christian Academy, 36-6. Q Vickers threw for 191 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 56 yards in the win.
The Lions' Johnathan Wiley recorded the longest rushing play in AISA AA Region 1 this season in his game against the Cougars last week. Wiley ran for 85 yards on the play and finished with 91 on the day as his team beat Crenshaw Christian Academy.
Andy Whatley's team's dynamic duo of Vickers and Wiley proved tough for Roland Jones' team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Xavier Lane helped Evangel Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 66 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Edgewood Academy's Taylor Hawthorne and Daniel Green have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Hawthorne has thrown for 1,303 yards this season, while Green has 28 catches for 512 yards. Maurice Fears from Springwood leads the league in rushing with 1,191 yards.
As it stands, the Cougars are in seventh, while the Wildcats are in fourth.
The Wildcats added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating East Memorial Christian Academy, 52-14. The victory was the ninth in a row for Edgewood Academy.
