The Edmund Burke Academy Spartans came tearing into Friday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over Augusta Prep Day. The result was nothing new for Edmund Burke Academy, who have now won six games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Grant Mobley continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 136 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes. Mobley really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run.
Edmund Burke Academy has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-9 Augusta Prep Day and 2-8 Trinity Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.4% over those games). As for Augusta Prep Day, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
Edmund Burke Academy will head out on the road to face off against Briarwood Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Augusta Prep Day, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fullington Academy at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Fullington Academy is ranked 455th, while Augusta Prep Day is ranked 443rd).
