NCISAA Charlotte Independent Schools recap Oct. 30, 2012
Charlotte Christian extended the longest winning streak in NCISAA Charlotte Independent Schools this week by beating Providence Day, 24-16. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Knights.
Charlotte Christian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Eric Lynch threw for 230 and one touchdown and Bo Hines had 114 yards receiving. On the ground Desmond Lawrence chipped in 178 yards. Adam Durden helped Charlotte Christian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 50 yards.
Jack Shell made the biggest impact on defense this week as Charlotte Country Day bested Charlotte Latin. The senior pulled down one interception.
Thanks to the talents of Michael Radford and Jimmy Kleitches the Buccaneers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Radford leads the league in passing with 1625 yards, while Kleitches has rushed for 915 yards this season. Jason Estep's team's Hines leads the league in receiving yards with 634 on 36 catches.
The Knights' Lawrence is a mere 100 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 98 carries Lawrence has accumulated 900 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Charlotte Country Day takes on the Chargers. At the moment, Bob Witman's team is in first, while Providence Day is in third.
Charlotte Christian made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,248 from 1,551. The improvement was the result of 24-16 victory over Bruce Hardin's team last week.
