The Oxford Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 91-44 loss at the hands of Crosby. Oxford has not had much luck with Crosby recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Crosby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Micah Blackman led the charge by scoring nine points along with 16 rebounds and three steals. Blackman is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Curtis Ellis, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Oxford dropped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Crosby, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oxford will take on Torrington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Crosby, they will head out on the road to take on Watertown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Watertown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Connecticut Rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Crosby is ranked 17th).
