New Knoxville and Versailles are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2014, but not for long. The New Knoxville Rangers will head out on the road to take on the Versailles Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
New Knoxville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 65-44 margin over Waynesfield-Goshen. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded New Knoxville with their most commanding win of the season.
New Knoxville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Albers led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Albers has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keianna Wellman, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Versailles beat Tri-Village 55-44 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Versailles.
New Knoxville's victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-17. As for Versailles, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
New Knoxville took a serious blow against Versailles in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 54-19. Can New Knoxville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
