While losing is never fun, Central Florida Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 396th, while Lake Howell is ranked 120th).
Despite the loss, Central Florida Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Semaj Washington, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Cooper Clinger, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Central Florida Christian Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lake Howell pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Lake Howell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaydon A. Samuels led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Samuels has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Janiel De los santos was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Central Florida Christian Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Lake Howell, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Central Florida Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Lake Brantley at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. The timing is sure in Lake Brantley's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Central Florida Christian Academy has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Lake Howell, they will face off against Boone at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
