Basketball Recap: Raphael Latorre's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Panorama over Van Nuys

Panorama was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 71-54 bruising from the Van Nuys Wolves. The Pythons were not able to make up for their loss to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Panorama's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raphael Latorre, who posted 22 points. The dominant performance gave Latorre a new career-high in points. Eddie Munguia was another key player, putting up 17 points.

Van Nuys got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden Gervacio out in front who earned 19 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Beab Alemayehu, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.

Panorama's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Van Nuys, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-7 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Panorama will host Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Panorama is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season. As for Van Nuys, they will welcome Canoga Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Van Nuys knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Canoga Park likes a good challenge.
