The Greene County Tigers suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 48-24 loss at the hands of Marion. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Greene County in their matchups with Marion: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lester Scott, who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Michael Gibson was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. This was only their 15th loss (out of 18 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Greene County has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Marion, they pushed their record up to 11-9 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greene County will take on Tuscaloosa Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuscaloosa Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greene County in Alabama (Tuscaloosa Academy is ranked 165th, while Greene County is ranked 382nd). As for Marion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aliceville at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
