Last Friday, St. Stanislaus took a serious blow against the Chiefs, falling 66-32. St. Stanislaus has struggled against the Chiefs recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, St. Patrick entered their tilt with the Bulldogs with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. St. Patrick put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 60-40 win on Thursday. Given St. Patrick's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Matt Krass continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it 16 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. Patrick's points. Another player making a difference was Jack Hewes, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
St. Stanislaus has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for St. Patrick, they pushed their record up to 19-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
St. Stanislaus came up short against the Fighting Irish when the teams last played on Tuesday, falling 47-43. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Krass, who scored 22 points along with two steals.
