The Everglades Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 32 points or more this season. They took their match at home on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 71-30 victory over Pompano Beach. The victory was familiar territory for Everglades who now have three in a row.
Everglades' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dekotah Pierre-Johnson led the charge by scoring 12 points. Pierre-Johnson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chaz Chambers, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Pompano Beach's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jonathan Berwig, who scored nine points along with five assists, and Mason Rowan who scored 11 points. Berwig scored a full 30% of Pompano Beach's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kerrick Wiggins was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Everglades' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Pompano Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Everglades and American Heritage will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th at. American Heritage has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 274 points over their last four games. As for Pompano Beach, they will take on West Broward at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Broward is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
