The Bret Harte Bullfrogs will venture away from home to face off against the Riverbank Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bret Harte will be strutting in after a victory while Riverbank will be coming in after a defeat.
If Bret Harte beats Riverbank with nine runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Bullfrogs came out on top against Summerville by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bullfrogs.
Madison Kane made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Bret Harte let Rylee Banks and Mariah Colwell run wild. Banks scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while Colwell scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those four hits gave Banks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of A Darby, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Bret Harte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Riverbank was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 9-3 to Bret Harte.
Maya Guzman put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Guzman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Valeria Rosas, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Alexis Felix, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Riverbank's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15-1. As for Bret Harte, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Everything went Bret Harte's way against Riverbank in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as Bret Harte made off with a 9-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bullfrogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
