Football Recap: Leuzinger Skates Past Hawthorne with Ease

Leuzinger won the last time they faced Hawthorne and things went their way on Friday too. The Olympians simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cougars 61-6. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Olympians' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Cougars are ranked 800th).

Leuzinger was led to victory by Russell Sekona and Kelton Strickland. Sekona threw for 170 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing, while Strickland rushed for 87 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave Sekona a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Jamaal Fay was in the mix too, providing Leuzinger with one TD.

Leuzinger didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Sinamone Hola and Pakipole Moala each grabbed an interception. Leuzinger received some extra help from Fay, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Leuzinger's record is now 3-1. As for Hawthorne, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Leuzinger has already played their next game, a 43-32 win against Inglewood on the 3rd. As for Hawthorne, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-0 defeat against El Segundo on the 3rd.
