The Rockledge Raiders have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 62-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Providence School on Saturday. If Rockledge hoped to take revenge for the 56-47 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Rockledge's loss came despite strong showings from Terrence Shannon and Ryan Blount. Shannon scored 13 points along with five assists, while Blount scored 14 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiori Jordan-thomas, who scored eight points.
Providence School was led to victory by Chris Arias and Caleb Mcabee. Arias scored 19 points along with eight rebounds, while Mcabee scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Abdul Mansaray, who scored eight points.
Rockledge's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Providence School, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockledge will take on Cocoa at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cocoa is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Providence School, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. Riverside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 178th, while Providence School is ranked 19th).
