Basketball Recap: South Gray Piles Up the Points Against South Central

South Gray won against Ashland last Tuesday with 60 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The South Gray Rebels claimed a resounding 60-28 victory over the South Central Timberwolves. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 30 points or more this season.

Kylie Stapleton was her usual excellent self, going 5-for-11 on her way to 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Reegan Meairs, who posted 12 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: South Gray was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Central only posted one assist.

South Central's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Remi Martin, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. Martin is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Isabel Hackney was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to 13 boards and four steals.

The win was the third in a row for South Gray, bringing their record for this year to 16-1. As for South Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

South Gray didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-41 victory against Southwestern Heights on the 14th. As for South Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-31 defeat against Meade on the 14th.
