Conemaugh Valley snuck past the Highlanders with a 78-73 win. Given Conemaugh Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Highlanders are ranked 613th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conemaugh Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Landon Percinsky led the charge by dropping a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Percinsky has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 15 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryton Yackulich, who scored 18 points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Conemaugh Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. As for Cambria Heights, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Conemaugh Valley will take on the Colts at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cambria Heights, they and the Indians will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
