Kaileigh Byars was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Byars was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Willow Dickenson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kaycee Doughty was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Hanover hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Patrick Henry got themselves on the board against J.R. Tucker on Thursday, but J.R. Tucker never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.
Hanover's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Patrick Henry, their record is now 7-2.
Hanover beat Patrick Henry 8-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
