The Moffat Cowboys will head out on the road to face off against the Creede Miners at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moffat has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Moffat is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Lake City: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Moffat blew Lake City out of the water with a 51-12 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cowboys had established a 28 point advantage.

Moffat's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kandra Pollard, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Shauna Pollard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals. Kandra is becoming a predictor of Moffat's success: when she posts at least ten boards the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when she doesn't). Emily Velazquez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Moffat smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Creede entered their tilt with Antonito last Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trojans 64-26. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-10.
Creede's win came from a few key players Moffat will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lila Fairchild, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 steals. Her afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmin Laing, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 11 rebounds, and ten steals.
Moffat's record is now 6-10. As for Creede, their record now sits at 7-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Moffat has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Creede struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Moffat took a serious blow against Creede when the teams last played back in January, falling 65-19. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Fairchild, who almost dropped a triple-double on 37 points, 13 boards, and nine steals. Now that Moffat knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
