Greenwich and Stamford are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Greenwich Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Stamford Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenwich is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Greenwich pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Darien.
Meanwhile, Stamford faced Trumbull in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Stamford came out on top in a nail-biter against Trumbull on Tuesday and snuck past 62-59. The victory was nothing new for Stamford as they're now sitting on three straight.
Stamford got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ejai Presley out in front who scored 16 points. Presley is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Ryan Connors was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Greenwich's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Stamford, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.
Greenwich won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, slipping by Stamford 50-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greenwich since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
