O'Gorman is 0-3 against Harrisburg since April of 2023 but things could change on Thursday. The Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. O'Gorman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
O'Gorman not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over Tea. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.
Mary Koch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Kinsley Sheridan and Vada Ellerbusch did most of the damage at the plate: Sheridan scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Ellerbusch went 2-for-3 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave Ellerbusch a new career-high. Ellie Van Wyhe also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Harrisburg faced Brandon Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Tigers skirted past the Lynx 15-13. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won five games in a row.
Harrisburg let Kennedy Kokenge and Alexis Fey run wild. Kokenge fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-4, while Fey went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayci Olson, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Harrisburg lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Harrisburg pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for O'Gorman, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. O'Gorman hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Harrisburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
O'Gorman suffered a grim 25-0 defeat to Harrisburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
