Basketball Recap: Wright Takes a Loss

Wright was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Shoshoni Wranglers, falling 66-46. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wranglers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2025.

Defeat or not, Wright got some senior leadership from Jocelyn Umiker and Dani Barnhurst. Umiker went 9-for-21 to rack up 20 points in addition to eight boards and four steals, while Barnhurst almost dropped a triple-double with nine rebounds, ten assists, and nine blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Umiker has scored all season. Carolina Navarro was another key player, putting up seven points and seven boards.

Wright's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Shoshoni, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Wright wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 64-22 defeat against Burns on the 10th. As for Shoshoni, they have also already played their next game, a 69-29 loss against Big Horn on the 10th.
