The Clay County Tigers pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Floyd Central by a score of 60-58. Clay County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Floyd Central apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.
Braden Moore had an outrageously good game for Floyd Central as he scored 24 points along with 5 blocks and 4 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Moore has scored at least 25% of Floyd Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnie Samons, who scored 10 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Clay County and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Floyd Central, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay County will challenge Harlan at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Floyd Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Prestonsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Prestonsburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
