University Prep Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, University Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid win over the Tigers, taking the game 55-45.
University Prep Academy can attribute much of their success to Austin Clement, who scored ten points, and Kalebe Girma, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clement has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit came tearing into last Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points) and they left with even more momentum. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Summit Tahoma 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
University Prep Academy pushed their record up to 12-8 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.2 points per game. As for Cristo Rey San Jose Jesuit, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.
University Prep Academy was able to grind out a solid win over the Lions in their previous matchup back in January, winning 45-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for University Prep Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
