Oakdale has gone a perfect 10-0 against Manteca recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Oakdale will be playing at home against Manteca at 4:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While Oakdale's win against East Union wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Jaelyn Lee (UOP) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Oakdale's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Madi Bohannon (Cal Poly), who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Manteca, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Mountain House on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buffaloes have posted since May 14, 2024.
Riley Ward made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other pitching news, Manteca got a great performance from Isabel Tonna as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Moncada, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jayana Dias also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Oakdale's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Manteca, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
Oakdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Manteca in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Oakdale repeat their success, or does Manteca has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
