Logan County and Allen County-Scottsville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Logan County Cougars will welcome the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Logan County beat Ohio County 8-3. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Addison Cartas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kalie Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brenley Adler, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Logan County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ohio County only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, Allen County-Scottsville had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against Franklin-Simpson by a score of 6-1. The game was the first time the Patriots have beaten the Wildcats on their field since April 22, 2021.
Brooklyn Oliver made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Payton Hopkins was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Maddie Gray was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Logan County was able to grind out a solid win over Allen County-Scottsville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 8-4. Will Logan County repeat their success, or does Allen County-Scottsville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
