Even though the North Duplin Rebels scored an imposing 78 points on Tuesday, the James Kenan Tigers still came out on top. James Kenan walked away with an 88-78 victory over North Duplin. That's another feather in the cap for James Kenan, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
When it comes to explaining why North Duplin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Dujuan Armwood. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Armwood scored 15 or more points. Branson Martin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
James Kenan's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for North Duplin, they bumped their record down to 2-3 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Kenan will square off against Kinston at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Kinston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 385 points over their last six matches. North Duplin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jones at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Jones focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
